Boreal Forest Guides

   Safety in the wilderness!

Boreal Forest Guides have highly qualified Instructors to lead your activities!

Welcome to Boreal Forest Guides, we look forward to meeting you and can`t wait to share our passion for the outdoors. Last spring Shawn and Nancy started an exciting new company in Cold Lake called Boreal Forest Guides. They would like to  share some of their experiences in the wilderness and hopefully encourage you to enjoy the back country. The goal of this company is to help people feel safe in this beautiful wilderness.  We love knowing that there are all of those people out there with the skills to help each other in an emergency situation!  We look forward to sharing our knowledge and hopefully picking up a few new tricks, the more you learn, the more there is to learn!

Shawn Perry:

Owner/Instructor/Guide

Shawn grew up on the shores of the Saint John river and has long had a passion for spending time in nature. Shawn is very passionate about the backwoods and loves to share his knowledge and expertise. He was given the opportunity to be in charge of the Ground Search and Rescue Team and has ran many survival courses. Every Fall Shawn dedicates his time to hunting and has guided a variety of interesting clients in his off time and is no stranger to hard work in the wilderness in all conditions.

Mellisa Petersen:

Waterfront National Lifeguard/Lifesaving Instructor

Mellisa and I met a few years back as lifeguards and I am very happy to have her join the Boreal Team. She has spent the last few year refining her skills as a Lifeguard, Instructor, and Coach for the Marlins Swim Team. Her most recent achievements were passing her Waterfront National Lifeguard course and becoming an Instructor in the Babysitting Course. Her passion for aquatics and excitement to be joining our team makes her the perfect Instructor!
