It is never to late to learn to swim! A few years ago I was talking to a co-worker about private lessons and her husband laughed...he said you will never get her near the water. Well I responded by saying I will have her swimming across the deep end in 5 lessons or I will give you your money back! After only three lessons she not only swam across the deep end but she jumped in too!
